Blog Post #1: The First Day

somehow i feel like this is going to give me stress. lots of stress.

What are you excited about for the Genius Project?

This is my first time doing something like a "genius project", and what I am most excited, and stressed about, is the amount of freedom they are giving us regarding our proposals and ideas. Being able to research and put time into something that we are passionate about for a long term project is exciting and nerve wrecking all at the same time. I actually don't know how to feel about this.

What are you wondering about for the Genius Project?

There isn't much that I'm wondering right know about the project apart from wanting to know more about the pacing and collaboration. How much time a day( or is it a week?) are we going to have to finish the project? How much time are we going to have to finish individual steps, assuming there are going to be individual steps. Is working on the project going to be done mostly outside of the school project time or during it? What do you necessarily mean when you say we can collaborate with another classmate?

What ideas are most interesting or exciting to you right now?

You see this is the stress inducing part. Coming up ideas, brainstorming, is, at least to me, very challenging. Don't get me wrong- having the freedom to choose what you want to research is a nice thing to have, but that's not to say it's not hard. Moving on, I do have some ideas, although not specific, revolving around what I want to do.

- anti-bullying/standing up for yourself
- writing children' s books/ poems
- something to do revolving around art and expression
- animal cruelty
- the daily lives of multiple high school teens, similarities and differences

I usually get pretty bored and uninterested in topics very quickly even if I recently was interested in it, so I usually end up thinking up and quickly discarding ideas because of this.

this blogging thing is a little weird.
